I have had this conversation with myself many times while out there riding and running the pavements "why haven't the men improved at Kona Ironman since 1989 but the women have since 1993?". With all the technological advancements, better training methods, higher quality nutrition, more people competing in triathlons and the advent of triathlon in the Olympics are we not seeing faster times in hawaii? Mark Allens marathon split in 1989 of 2:40.04 is still the record and his winning time of 8:09.15 is still one of the top 5 fastest times ever.
