CHANGHUA (16 March 2010) - The largely uneventful stage three of the Tour de Taiwan 2010 saw the first bunch finish of the annual cycling series this year which also witnessed local hero Feng Chun Kai climbing into the red polka dot shirt of the king of the mountain at the end of the 136km rideThe race which had begun atop the Baguashan Buddha and finish just a few metres down at the Foguang University saw the peloton being tested with a Cat-2 climb just after the Merida factory.
As Chun Kai of the ACTION Cycling Team said afterwards through his team manager Hus Jui Te, the aim of the team today was indeed the king of the mountain shirt which has been worn by Malaysia’s Rezuan Zainal for the last two days.
“That was our aim,” said the Miaoli-born Chun Kai, who was the youngest contender in the Individual Point Race at the last Olympics in Beijing.
“Our target was to take the KOM shirt today and we did just that when we planned our attack just before the Merida factory (at the 23km mark).
“My team-mates led me out and that allowed me to be in front. We hope that we will have the chance to win the yellow jersey next.”
